Joseph Milla

Summary

Joseph Milla is an engineering leader specializing in scaling startups from zero to IPO, building high-performance infrastructure, and leading world-class teams. He is currently part of the engineering team at CloudX, a supply-side platform for mobile and AI publishers founded by the creators of MoPub and MAX. Built for the Intelligence Era, CloudX helps mobile publishers boost revenue with AI workflows and a liquid marketplace powered by secure, transparent infrastructure. The company has raised $30M in Series A funding led by Addition.

With a background in Mathematics and Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, Joseph is passionate about building teams and foundational components that enhance the reliability, scalability, and performance of core mobile-first systems. He thrives on the challenge of creating teams and companies from the ground up—scaling from zero to IPO—and transforming them into scalable, secure, and impactful organizations.

Before CloudX, Joseph was Head of Infrastructure at Pomelo, a fintech company combining credit and remittances to expand financial access. He joined pre-launch and built the systems behind revenue-critical money movement and credit, helping make monetization reliable, compliant, and scalable. Pomelo raised $180M+ backed by Vy Capital, Founders Fund, and A* Capital, and has since been acquired by Zepz, a Series F company with $1.1B raised.

Previously, Joseph was an Engineering Manager at AppLovin (NASDAQ: APP), a mobile ads company, where he built the Infrastructure team and led efforts in compute, traffic, and storage through rapid growth, culminating in the company’s IPO at a $28.6B valuation backed by KKR. Before that, he began his career at Zycada, a CDN startup, where he played a key role in funding rounds totaling $31.5M and an acquisition by Palo Alto Networks (NASDAQ: PANW).
