PennApps XII
What’s the best way to spend Labor Day Weekend? Fly out to Philly! For this 4-day weekend, I flew in to Philadelphia for PennApps XII. I went to PennApps earlier this year and really enjoyed it. So, the most logical thing for me to do on this long weekend was to fly and come back to hack again.
“The Tampon” (as the students would like to call it)
Sweet Taste of Liberty (HIMYM)
This time around, I had an earlier flight so I had some time to roam around the city. As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, the first on my list was the Liberty Bell (Cue: Sweet Taste of Liberty). From there, I toured the city, visited a couple of museums, and generally explored the local scene.
After an afternoon’s worth of exploring (aka getting lost), I went to the Wells Fargo Center from downtown Philly for the actual event. The place was packed and way bigger than before! It’s the first time I’ve been to a hackathon in a stadium which I think was a pretty cool idea given the fact that there’s about 2,000 people attending.
This place is huge
Food catering service was great. There was always a constant supply of caffeine (I really liked the fat coffee). Plus, the snacks were delicious! PennApps organizers really do know how to pull off a great event.
For this hackathon, my team and I created a tool called Pizzazz. It is a robust API that is built to dynamically adapt your interface to match user-generated content. It makes the lives of developers easier by providing a tool for generating color schemes, and design recommendations effortlessly.
